About the Artist

Displaying more than nominal drawing and painting ability as a child, Bette Rodgers was encouraged to begin painting landscapes at age 12 and was taking art correspondence courses by age 14. At age 21 Bette discovered her true passion for portraiture during night classes in Los Angeles and drawing from live models. After studying under a number of accomplished painters, Bette was privileged to study "one-on-one" with a remarkable teacher named Ellen Anthony in Simi Valley, CA. One of the many things she learned under this great artist is the discipline of being able to capture her subjects without meeting them, working entirely from photographs. She tells her customers, "If you love the photograph, you will love the portrait."
